Devotional for #Christian Greeters #9 (For Sunday, May 14, 2017 – Mother’s Day) – by Jerome Danner

Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
Proverbs 31:31 NIV
As greeters, we have to be careful to not allow ourselves to elevate certain groups of people over others.  What I mean is that we never want to give the appearance that a certain kind of status matters to us.  We should extend God’s love to each and every person that comes through the door.
However, on a day like Mother’s Day, we do want to show a little extra attention to the mothers in our lives.
As Proverbs 31:31 states above, we should “honor her” and “her” being a “woman who fears the Lord,” which is spoken of in the prior 30th verse.  Now, mothers are wonderful in general, but a mother who lives a life in service to Christ is something to behold.  We should all take time to be grateful to them for their ministry as mothers and all that it entails.
Clearly, our God thinks highly of the role of motherhood as He saw fit (before His creations) to give His Only Begotten Son….a mother – the Virgin Mary!  How amazing is that?!
So, let us not allow a mother to pass by without us giving them a special greeting.  Let it be heartfelt and let it be one of reverence as well.
