Philippians 2:3-4 says: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.”

Greeting others can be a way of showing others that they have value.
Greeting is not supposed to be about putting ourselves out there as a great person because we like to smile. Greeting is supposed to be about the interests of others as we seek to make them connected to us as extended family. Greeting is supposed to be welcoming others into worship and helping them to feel at home with like-minded believers.
Philippians, in the second chapter, in the third and fourth verses, reminds us to not selfishly promote ourselves above or ahead of others, but be humble and selfless in all that we do. Remember, as Christians we are to be Christ-like, therefore, we are supposed to be modeling behavior that is shaped by Christ and was once modeled by Him as He once walked this old world.
So, greet others with this thought in mind: “Let me selflessly welcome brothers and sisters into worship today. Let me seek to comfort them or make them comfortable while we share the same sacred space, this being God’s House, and treat them in the same manner outside of God’s House.”
[PRAY TO GREET OTHERS SELFLESSLY AND HUMBLY.]
